A sketch done during Easter.
Freedom Fighter was created by French artist César Baldaccini, and was gifted to Hong Kong in 1992. The bronze sculpture is related to the 1989 Tiananmen Square Protests, and was renamed as “The Flying Frenchman” when it was installed in the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront. For many years, alternative activities commemorating the Protests were held around the sculpture.
Today 31 years ago, students in Beijing started their hunger strike at Tiananmen Square, urging the Chinese Government to respond to their call for a freer and more democratic society.
